Aug 19: In 2014, Megha and Pritesh Asher started Juicy Chemistry in a 10 x 10 kitchen in Coimbatore with Rs 5,000, a blender, and a question that would shape everything that followed: why do products that claim to be organic contain ingredients that are not?

12 Years of Honest Skincare: Juicy Chemistry Celebrates Its Journey From a Coimbatore Kitchen to Certified Organic Beauty

Pritesh Asher came from a petrochemicals background. When he picked up a product labelled natural and organic and recognised the chemical compounds inside, the couple put it back on the shelf. Megha Asher, meanwhile, had spent years dealing with PCOD-related skin issues and sensitive, reactive skin, trying products that promised transformation but delivered confusion. Together, these experiences shaped Juicy Chemistry’s founding belief: skincare should do what it says, the label should say what is inside, and if a product is called organic, it should be organic.

That philosophy led the brand to take a different path from conventional natural and organic claims in India. In 2017, Juicy Chemistry began its journey towards COSMOS V4 certification from Ecocert France, the most rigorous certified organic standard available globally. The process meant discovering that many ingredients previously used were not wholly organic, rebuilding the supply chain, and ensuring the soil was conditioned for three years before it could bear fully organic produce. The certification was achieved in 2019 and became the operating standard governing every ingredient, supplier, formulation decision and product leaving the Coimbatore facility.

“The certification was not a marketing exercise,” says Pritesh Asher, Co-Founder and CEO. “It was the moment we found out how hard it actually was to do what we had always said we were doing. And we did it anyway.”

Juicy Chemistry began with cold-pressed oils and handmade soaps and has since evolved into a complete certified organic personal care range across face, hair and body. In 2023, its Bare With Us campaign featured real, unretouched skin and explicitly refused filters and digital alteration, reflecting the brand’s philosophy in its communication. In 2025, Juicy Actives launched as India’s first certified organic performance skincare range, combining biocompatible actives with certified organic formulation and demonstrating that organic and effective skincare need not be in opposition.

Over twelve years, the Indian consumer and beauty landscape have evolved, with more consumers reading ingredient lists and questioning natural, clean and organic claims. In this environment, Juicy Chemistry’s COSMOS V4 certification remains a key marker of independent verification and the standard against which the brand continues to operate.

Looking ahead, Juicy Actives is expanding, while an AI-based skin analysis tool is in development to bring personalisation to the certified organic category. The brand is also deepening its presence across international markets in 30-plus countries and is now present in homes across the UAE, USA, Australia, South Africa and France.

“We have never chased trends. We have built trust,” says Megha Asher, Co-Founder and COO. “Twelve years in, the real celebration is knowing that millions of people trust us with their skin, and that is a responsibility we carry every single day.”

As Juicy Chemistry marks twelve years, the brand continues to build on the belief that began in a 10 x 10 kitchen in Coimbatore: that skincare should be honest, transparent and true to its claims. From achieving COSMOS V4 certification in 2019 to expanding into certified organic performance skincare with Juicy Actives, the brand’s journey has remained rooted in maintaining the same standards as it grows. Today, with a presence across 30-plus countries and its next chapter focused on product innovation, personalisation and international growth, Juicy Chemistry continues to carry forward the philosophy on which it was founded.
