Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a transformative push in highway infrastructure, thanks to coordinated efforts between the state government and the Central Government. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recently expressed gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the ongoing support in upgrading and expanding the national highway network across the state.
The state government is fully cooperating in the construction and maintenance of national highways, ensuring smoother progress on projects that aim to enhance connectivity and trade efficiency. A particular focus is being placed on improving links to existing ports and developing connections to emerging greenfield ports, which are expected to boost regional economic growth.
One of the most significant projects is the Machilipatnam Port connectivity initiative, which will establish a direct highway link from the hinterland to the port. With an allocated budget of ₹573.77 crore, this six-lane road connecting the NH-65 and NH-216 junctions to the port will significantly reduce logistics costs, ease traffic congestion, and shorten freight turnaround times.
Enhanced road networks are expected to facilitate smoother movement of goods, improve trade efficiency, and attract further investment into the state. By prioritizing strategic highway projects, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a key logistics and transport hub in the region.
CM Naidu’s appreciation of the Central Government’s commitment underscores the importance of collaborative governance, ensuring infrastructure development translates into tangible benefits for businesses, industries, and citizens.
With these initiatives, Andhra Pradesh is not only strengthening its road network but also laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth, better connectivity, and improved regional development in the years ahead.
