Phuro Innovations launched its “Ecological Peace Manifesto” at its invitation-only Phuro Annual Summit in New Delhi, calling for the creation of a legally binding, sovereign-neutral “Save the Third Pole” Himalayan Biosphere Reserve through an Intergovernmental Organization.
The research newsletter, launched in partnership with WASME, seeks to bring together international laws, frameworks, scientific perspectives and governance mechanisms to explore a long-term institutional approach to Himalayan ecological protection, disaster mitigation and climate monitoring.
The newsletter was launched Wirth high level thought leaders including, Rachna Sharma, President & Founder, Phuro Innovations, who brought together legal experts, climate finance professionals, media leaders, civil society representatives, sustainability practitioners and young digital voices.
“In order to establish an Inter-Governmental Organization, a complex geopolitical navigation and transboundary cooperation is required, to seek agreements from our neighbors including some parts of Tibet, to identify “BIOSPHERE RESERVE” and align that with MAN & Biosphere program of the UNESCO, Like Nilgiris & Sundarbans, Said Sharma; she said post that nations can evoke the international law to establish international treaties and protect the – THE THIRD POLE HIMALAYAS”. This will protect what remains and restores what we have lost in the Himalayas.
This needs immediate international action to save our people from further dangers from floods, cyclones, heavy rainfall and microeconomic losses worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
The Venn diagram of peace an educative branding at the Summit recommended that China can leverage its cost-efficient manufacturing to provide the affordable new green technologies across the region and also offer a part of Tibet for conservation as “Biosphere Reserve”. She mentioned that in the new world order, China must explicitly guarantee; “Safety of the Third Pole – The Himalayas and ensure lasting harmony across the region”.
These are basic moral foundations of world politics in international relations.
Current human activity—marked by massive contributions from nations like China US, India, and the EU— are melting glaciers, towards a tipping point.
Through the “Save the Third Pole – Himalayas” campaign, Phuro Innovations seeks to build high level thought leadership platform, with its wide network to continue sustained dialogue among governments, legal institutions, scientific communities, climate finance institutions, businesses, philanthropists, civil society organisations and communities around transboundary ecological cooperation, climate accountability, disaster preparedness, climate finance and long-term protection of the Himalayan ecosystem.
The Ecological Peace Manifesto represents the organisation’s proposed framework for taking this conversation forward, bringing together questions of ecology, climate, livelihoods, human rights, public health and regional cooperation.
