Noida, Sep 11: Students of IMS Design & Innovation Academy, Sector 62, Noida, undertook an educational visit to the historic Humayun’s Tomb in New Delhi. The visit was organised with the objective of connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences and familiarising students with India’s rich heritage of history, culture, art and architecture. During the visit, students explored the architectural features, construction style, historical background and cultural significance of Humayun’s Tomb, gaining valuable insights into the country’s historical heritage.
Mr. Chirag Gupta, Vice President, IMS, said that the holistic development of students goes beyond classroom learning. He said,
“Familiarising students with the country’s historical and cultural heritage is an important part of education. Educational visits such as these provide students with an opportunity to understand the past, connect it with the present and develop a more informed and conscious perspective towards the future.”
Professor Dr. M.K.V. Nair, Dean, IMS DIA, said that the educational visit to Humayun’s Tomb was organised to provide design students with an opportunity to move beyond theoretical learning and gain first-hand exposure to history, art and architecture. He said,
“Historical sites provide students with an opportunity to connect with India’s rich traditions of history, art and architecture. We believe that such experiential learning will encourage students to develop their curiosity, creative thinking and learning abilities.”
During the educational visit organised by the institute, students explored the monument and observed various distinctive elements of Mughal architecture. The grand structure of the monument, its Charbagh garden layout, imposing dome, elegant arches, and the artistic use of red sandstone and marble particularly fascinated the students. They also gained an understanding of the architectural design of the monument along with its historical and cultural context.
The visit provided students with an enriching learning experience and helped them appreciate the importance of preserving India’s historical and cultural heritage. Through direct observation and exploration, students were able to relate their academic learning to a real historical setting, making the visit both informative and inspiring.
