Bhubaneswar, Sept. 7 (UDN): Reaffirming its commitment to road safety and public welfare, the Odisha government has adopted a balanced and citizen-centric approach to the enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Responding to public demands, the government has decided to reduce the penalty imposed for violations related to the Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), providing relief to vehicle owners while encouraging greater compliance with pollution-control norms.
At the same time, the government has made it clear that enforcement of traffic and pollution regulations will be strengthened to ensure road safety and strict adherence to the law.
As part of the intensified enforcement drive, authorities will immediately launch large-scale vehicle inspections across the state and tighten e-detection-based monitoring to identify and act against traffic rule violations.
The government said the twin measures—offering relief through reduced PUCC penalties while intensifying enforcement—reflect its commitment to protecting public interest, promoting responsible road use and ensuring safer roads for all.
