New Delhi, Sep 3: India is set to strengthen its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities with the establishment of South Asia’s first dedicated radome repair facility.
Airbus and Indamer Technics will set up the facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, expanding India’s capabilities in specialised aircraft component maintenance.
The facility will support the inspection, repair, replacement and related maintenance of radomes fitted on Airbus A320, A330, A350 and A380 aircraft. It is expected to serve Airbus customers in India as well as across the wider South Asian region.
A radome is the protective structure fitted over an aircraft’s weather radar and antenna systems. Damage to the component can affect aircraft operations and often requires specialised repair services.
The new facility is expected to reduce the need for airlines in the region to send radomes overseas for maintenance, potentially helping them cut turnaround times and improve operational efficiency.
The project also adds to India’s growing aviation MRO ecosystem and supports the country’s efforts to develop more specialised aircraft maintenance capabilities locally.
With India’s aviation sector expanding rapidly, the facility could create new opportunities in specialised engineering, aircraft maintenance and related technical services while strengthening Nagpur’s position as an emerging MRO hub.
