Sept 02: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) through its Career Counselling Committee (CCC), successfully organised Career in Accounting & Finance for Youth (CAFY – Season 5) & Super Mega Career Counselling Programme at Sikar, Rajasthan, on 21 August 2026. The mega programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 10,000 students under one roof, making it a landmark initiative in ICAI’s nationwide efforts to promote Commerce Education, Financial Literacy and informed career choices among the youth.
The programme also marked ICAI’s initiative towards the “World’s Largest Financial Literacy Session for Youth”, reflecting the Institute’s commitment to taking financial awareness and career guidance to students on a large scale. The event was hosted by the Sikar Branch of CIRC of ICAI and brought together students, educators, parents, professionals and distinguished dignitaries.
The programme was graced by Shri Satish Poonia, Hon’ble Member of Rajya Sabha and National General Secretary, BJP and Shri Subhash Meel Ji, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Khandela (Sikar) along with CA. Arpit Kabra, Chairman, Career Counselling Committee, ICAI; CA. Satish Kumar Gupta, CCM, ICAI; CA. Rajesh Sharma, Chairman, Board of Studies (O), ICAI and other senior office-bearers and representatives were present.
The event was not merely a career counselling programme but an opportunity for students to dream bigger, identify the right direction and build a strong foundation for their future. Students were encouraged to look beyond conventional career choices and explore the growing opportunities available in commerce, accounting, finance and allied sectors.
The speakers also highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available after pursuing commerce education, including Chartered Accountancy, accounting, auditing, taxation, finance, banking, investment, entrepreneurship, fintech and other emerging fields. Students were encouraged to select their career path according to their interests and capabilities.
Project Vanijya: Building Strong Foundations in Commerce Education
During the programme, students were also introduced to Project Vanijya, an ICAI initiative aimed at strengthening Commerce Education among school students and creating awareness about diverse career opportunities in the commerce stream.
The students were informed that commerce is not limited to Chartered Accountancy. It opens pathways to a wide range of fields such as accounting, finance, taxation, banking, investment, business, entrepreneurship and financial services. Through Project Vanijya, ICAI is working towards developing an early understanding of commerce and its relevance in the changing economic environment.
ICAI Commerce Olympiad: Turning Learning into a Challenge
Students were also encouraged to participate in the ICAI Commerce Olympiad, a free-of-cost, online, MCQ-based initiative designed to provide students an opportunity to test and strengthen their understanding of commerce-related subjects.
They were encouraged to look at the Olympiad not merely as a competition but as a “Learning Challenge” that can motivate them to expand their knowledge, improve their understanding and benchmark their learning with peers.
The speakers emphasised that the students participating in the programme today could become tomorrow’s Chartered Accountants, entrepreneurs, finance professionals and business leaders, contributing significantly to India’s economic growth.
The programme reinforced ICAI’s vision of empowering young people with knowledge, confidence and the right career guidance, enabling them to make informed choices and build meaningful professional journeys.
The participation of over 10,000 students at a single venue demonstrated the growing interest among young learners in commerce, finance and professional education. The initiative also underlined ICAI’s continued commitment to advancing Commerce Education, Financial Literacy and Career Counselling, in line with the broader objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
