Organised by the Murugappa Science Centre, an initiative of the A.M.M. Foundation, the quiz seeks to make science learning enjoyable while nurturing curiosity, critical thinking and a habit of reading and learning beyond textbooks. The questions focused on the application of scientific concepts rather than rote memorisation, encouraging students to think analytically and solve problems.
The Sivagangai district final, held on 19 August, was attended by Subramaniam Venkatachalam as Chief Guest. Speaking about the event, Mr Subramaniam Venkatachalam, Head – Aerospace and Defence, Carborundum Universal Ltd, said
“The Murugappa Science Quiz is about sparking curiosity, not just testing knowledge. It is encouraging to see young minds question, think and explore. The A.M.M. Foundation is doing important work in creating these opportunities.”
The Pudukottai district final on 20 August was graced by K. Shanmugam, Chief Educational Officer, Pudukottai, and T. Raju, District Education Officer, Pudukottai.
The competition was conducted in two stages. Students first took part in a written preliminary round, after which the top six teams from each district advanced to the on-stage grand finale. The quiz was designed and conducted by the X Quiz IT team, Chennai.
The first-place team in each district received ₹18,000, the second-place team ₹12,000 and the third-place team ₹6,000. Spot prizes and audience prizes added to the engagement at both finals.
The Murugappa Science Quiz continues to provide a platform for young learners to explore science, strengthen their analytical abilities and pursue their curiosity about the world around them.
