New Delhi, Aug 21: BMW India has unveiled the i5 Long Wheelbase, its first locally manufactured electric sedan in the country, with bookings now open across its dealer network.

The luxury EV will be produced at BMW Group’s Chennai plant, becoming the company’s second electric model manufactured in India.

Powered by an 81.6 kWh battery, the i5 Long Wheelbase delivers 268 hp and offers a claimed range of up to 669 km on a single charge under the MIDC cycle. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds.

With a 3,105 mm wheelbase, the sedan focuses on spacious interiors and premium rear-seat comfort.

The launch strengthens BMW’s presence in India’s growing luxury electric vehicle market and highlights the company’s increasing focus on local EV manufacturing.

The India-made i5 Long Wheelbase adds a new premium electric option for customers while supporting the country’s shift towards cleaner and technology-driven mobility.
