Aug 8: The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine has selected Aron Sulovari, MD, an anesthesiology resident at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, as the recipient of the 2026 Resident/Fellow of the Year Award. He will be recognized during the 25th Annual Pain Medicine Meeting in Tampa, FL, on November 7, 2026.
Since beginning his anesthesiology residency, Dr. Sulovari has earned a reputation for combining clinical excellence with an unwavering commitment to research, education, and compassionate patient care. His nominator wrote that, throughout his training, Dr. Sulovari has distinguished himself as an emerging leader in regional anesthesia and pain medicine. In addition to caring for patients with acute and chronic pain across the full spectrum of pain management, he has embraced opportunities to educate fellow trainees, contribute to scholarly research, and advance evidence-based patient care.
“From the outset of his training, Dr. Sulovari has displayed maturity, clarity of purpose, and empathy,” said Jeff L. Xu, MD, FASA, professor of Anesthesiology and chief of the Division of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College. “He represents the very best of our specialty’s future.”
Dr. Sulovari has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications spanning chronic pain, regional anesthesia, spine surgery, and perioperative medicine while presenting his work at national meetings including ASRA Pain Medicine, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Eastern Pain Association. His research reflects a commitment to advancing patient outcomes through scientific inquiry and innovation.
Equally notable is Dr. Sulovari’s dedication to mentorship and education. Faculty and peers recognize him as a collaborative leader who readily shares knowledge, teaches regional anesthesia techniques, leads case discussions, and supports junior residents’ professional growth. His leadership style emphasizes humility, teamwork, and service, making him a trusted mentor among trainees.
Beyond his clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Sulovari has remained committed to service through volunteer work with free clinics, refugee health initiatives, outreach programs for underserved populations, and international medical experiences. These efforts reflect his longstanding dedication to improving access to care locally and globally.

Dr. Sulovari earned his medical degree with a distinction in research from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, NY, after completing his undergraduate studies in chemistry with honors at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
The Resident/Fellow of the Year Award is given annually to a resident or fellow member of ASRA Pain Medicine who has demonstrated significant contributions to ASRA Pain Medicine events or activities related to regional anesthesia or pain medicine, has contributed to the welfare of residents or quality of residency education, serves as a role model and mentor, and embodies the values of ASRA Pain Medicine.
