
Surat’s textile sector has recently experienced a significant boost at the national stage. Ajmera Fashion Ltd. has successfully represented the domestic industry by serving as one of the the official textile partner for the high-profile Surat launch of the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026. Crowds came out in droves on 4th July 2026, to witness this landmark event at the YPD World Convention Centre, establishing Surat as the textile capital of India.
As a key voice representing Surat’s textile ecosystem, Mr. Ajay Ajmera, Founder and CEO of Ajmera Fashion Ltd., delivered a special address during the Business Networking and Trade Talk session. Mr Ajmera, alongside other industry leaders, shared insights on ‘Brand Building and Exploring New Markets’, highlighting the importance of creating strong Indian brands and expanding business opportunities for the textile industry.
Mr Ajmera’s keynote address, ‘Make in India: Surat’s Strategic Role in India’s Journey to a $5 Trillion Economy and the Vision for a $1 Trillion Textile Industry by 2047,’ focused on the contribution of Surat’s textile sector in India’s manufacturing growth story. He highlighted the importance of innovation, collaboration and strengthening the domestic textile ecosystem to position Indian businesses on the global stage.
The Surat Launch witnessed participation from industry leaders and distinguished dignitaries, including Mrs Smriti Irani, Former Union Cabinet Minister, Government of India, Mr Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament and Secretary General, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Mr Ashok Jirawala, President, SGCCI, along with several business leaders and representatives from Surat’s trade community.
Aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s larger vision of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, the theme of the launch ‘Vocal for Local to Global’ focuses on strengthening India’s manufacturing, trade and entrepreneurship abilities. Discussions highlighted the strategic role of Surat’s textile industry in India’s economic journey and its potential to emerge as a global textile leader.

The Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 is jointly organised by the ITPO and the CAIT, and is backed by the support of the Central Government ministries and departments. It will be held from August 12 to 15, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
