
Over 200 doctors came together to mark Doctors’ Day and spread the message of early cancer detection and healthy living
Hubballi, July 03: HCG NMR Cancer Centre, Hubballi organised a 2-km Doctors’ Day Walkathon, bringing together over 200 doctors from leading Medical and Ayurveda institutions across Hubballi-Dharwad. Organised in association with AFI Association Hubli-Dharwad, NIMA Association-Hubli, Sanjeevini Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Hubli and Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya & Hospital Heggeri. The walkathon celebrated the dedication of doctors while spreading awareness about Cancer, early screening, timely diagnosis, and preventive healthcare.
Held under the theme “Together We Walk for a Healthier Tomorrow,” the walkathon saw doctors from different medical specialities walking together with one common goal, to encourage people to take charge of their health and understand the importance of detecting cancer early. The event showed that creating awareness is just as important as treating diseases and that simple steps like regular health check-ups can help save lives.
The event was graced by Shri Iresh Anchatgeri, Corporator of Dharwad and Former Mayor, Hubballi-Dharwad as the Chief Guest, and Shri Vasant Horatti, Chairman, Oxford Group of Institutions, and Shri Tippanna Majjagi, BJP District President, Hubballi-Dharwad, as Special Guests. Event was also graced by Dr Pradeep Desai-Chairman of Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya & Hospital Heggeri, Dr C Thyagaraja, President of NIMA Association, Hubli, Dr Ravindra Y , President-AFI Dharwad and Dr Somshekhar Uddar, Secretary-Sanjeevini Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Hubli. They appreciated the efforts of the doctors and supported the message of cancer awareness and preventive healthcare.
Dr. Abdul Rahim, CEO, HCG NMR Cancer Centre, Hubballi, said, “Doctors work every day to save lives, but many illnesses can be treated better when they are found early. This walkathon was our way of taking that message beyond the hospital and into the community. It was inspiring to see doctors come together on Doctors’ Day to remind people that regular health check-ups and early screening can make a real difference in the fight against cancer.”

The Doctors’ Day Walkathon reflected HCG NMR Cancer Centre’s continued efforts to spread cancer awareness and encourage preventive healthcare. By bringing together the medical fraternity on one platform, the initiative highlighted the importance of early screening, timely diagnosis, and healthy lifestyle choices. The event ended with a shared commitment to continue spreading awareness and helping more people understand that early detection can save lives.
