Union Minister of Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh Visits NAMTECH - India's First MET Institute

New Delhi/Gandhinagar, June 12: NAMTECH (New Age Makers’ Institute of Technology), India’s first Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) institute, had the honour of welcoming Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology; Earth Sciences; and Minister of State in the Prime Minister‘s Office, to its transitory campus at Research Park, IIT Gandhinagar.

During the visit, Dr. Singh was introduced to NAMTECH‘s pioneering approach to engineering and technology education, which combines academic excellence with hands-on learning, experiential laboratories, applied research, and deep industry integration. He toured NAMTECH’s facilities and reviewed its academic and innovation ecosystem spanning smart manufacturing, semiconductors, sustainability, artificial intelligence, automation, and other emerging technologies. 

The Hon’ble Minister interacted with members of the NAMTECH Board and leadership team, learning about the institute‘s efforts to prepare future-ready talent for India’s evolving manufacturing and technology sectors, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He was also acquainted with the MET Platform and NAMTECH‘s growing ecosystem of partnerships with industry, academia and technology leaders, designed to accelerate translational research, foster innovation, and create pathways for learners to engage directly with the technologies shaping the future of manufacturing.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jitendra Singh said: “The vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 requires India to build not only world-class infrastructure and technology capabilities, but also a future-ready workforce capable of driving innovation and industrial growth. Institutions such as NAMTECH are creating a new model of education where manufacturing, engineering, and  technology converge to prepare talent for emerging sectors and strengthen India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in science, technology, and advanced manufacturing.”
