After the massive success and cult following of Marco, audiences have been closely watching what Cubes Entertainments would bring next. Now, their upcoming pan India high-octane action thriller Kaattalan is already creating strong buzz. Even before its worldwide theatrical release on May 28, 2026, Kattalan has secured the top position on IMDb’s list of the Most Anticipated Indian Movies of 2026.
Starring Antony Varghese in a powerful new role, the film promises a darker and more intense world. Early glimpses from the trailer have already caught attention for their scale, visuals, and action-heavy storytelling.
But what has truly added to the excitement is something else. Ever since the film was announced, fans have been discussing whether Marco and Kaattalan could be connected. Social media has been filled with theories, especially after the reveal of Siddique’s character poster. While the makers have not confirmed anything, the possibility of a larger cinematic world has only increased audience curiosity.
Producer Shareef Muhammed shared,
“With Kaattalan, we wanted to create a world that feels larger, more unpredictable, and emotionally immersive while still retaining the raw intensity audiences connected with in Marco. We pushed ourselves to bring action sequences and visuals on a scale audiences usually associate with international action films. It has action, suspense, emotions and mystery, and we believe audiences will slowly discover that there is much more to this film than what they have seen so far.”
The film’s ambition is also visible in how extensively it has been mounted. One of the film’s biggest strengths is expected to be its action. The action scenes were designed in Thailand by internationally known stunt choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, who is best known for the Ong-Bak films.
For Antony Varghese, Kaattalan stands out as one of his most exciting projects so far. He said,
“Kaattalan challenged me in many ways. The character has layers, and the world of the film feels intense and unpredictable. Even before release, seeing fans connect theories and discuss possible links with Marco has been exciting. It feels like audiences are already stepping into the world we created, and that makes this journey very special.”
Directed by debutant Paul George, the film also brings together a strong cast. Alongside Antony Varghese, Kaattalan stars Dushara Vijayan as the female lead, with Sunil, known for Pushpa and Jailer, playing an important role. Kabir Duhan Singh, who gained popularity among Malayalam audiences after Marco, is also part of the film. Adding to the scale is the music by Ravi Basrur, known for blockbuster films like K.G.F and Salaar, with additional songs by B. Ajaneesh Loknath.
Shemaroo Entertainment is the digital and satellite distribution partner of the movie, further expanding its reach across audiences and markets following its theatrical run.
Kaattalan comes at a time when Malayalam cinema is increasingly reaching audiences across languages. With large-scale action, growing fan theories, and pan-India appeal, Kaattalan is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most talked about releases of 2026.
