Mumbai, May 11: Marking Mother’s Day with a strong message around preventive healthcare and wellness, Wockhardt Hospitals successfully organised a special Mother’s Day Walkathon at Asmita Club, Mira Road, drawing participation from nearly 300 mothers and women across the Mira Bhayandar region.
Held between 6:30 am and 8:30 am, the event brought together families, senior citizens, fitness enthusiasts, and local residents in a community-driven initiative focused on encouraging women to prioritise their health and well-being.
The walkathon was organised around the theme of Women’s Health and Self-Care, highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare and the need for women to focus on their own physical and mental wellness alongside family responsibilities.
As part of the initiative, participants were offered complimentary health screenings including Complete Blood Count (CBC), Fasting Blood Sugar, Liver Function Test (LFT), Renal Function Test (RFT), Lipid Profile, and Blood Pressure check-ups. Participants also received refreshments, caps, and special goodie bags, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Healthcare experts and doctors present at the event also educated attendees about the growing prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases and the importance of regular health monitoring and healthy living practices.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Sushil Kumar said:
“Today’s overwhelming participation reflects that women are becoming more aware about their health and are ready to take positive steps towards preventive care. Mothers play the most important role in every family, and their health directly impacts the well-being of the entire household. This walkathon was our effort to encourage women to invest time in themselves and adopt healthier lifestyles.”
The event was also attended by API Shailendra Patil, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged women participants to continue prioritising their health and wellness.
The walkathon concluded on a positive and energetic note, reinforcing the message that healthier mothers contribute to healthier families and stronger communities.
