PM Narendra Modi Joins Sikkim for 50th Statehood Anniversary Closing Ceremony

New Delhi, Apr 29: In a landmark celebration of Sikkim’s 50 years of statehood, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the grand closing ceremony at Paljor Stadium, alongside Governor Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Rajya Sabha MP D.T. Lepcha, and Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba.

Addressing the occasion, the Prime Minister virtually inaugurated a series of key infrastructure and development projects across the state. These included the Helen Lepcha Medical College, a Mini Secretariat, the Eco-Tourism Pilgrimage Complex at Dodak, and the Administrative Block of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Centre of Excellence. He also laid the foundation stones for several upcoming initiatives, such as a 100-bed Ayurveda Hospital, an Eco-Pilgrimage Complex at Silnon, a Public Utility Centre, and major sewage system rehabilitation works.

Chief Minister PS Tamang, in his message, described the Prime Minister’s presence as a “distinct honour” and a moment of immense pride for the people of Sikkim. He noted that these projects represent a significant leap forward in strengthening the state’s infrastructure, healthcare systems, and sustainability efforts, paving the way for a resilient and prosperous future.

The Chief Minister also expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s address and his admiration for Sikkim’s cultural vibrancy, cleanliness, and scenic beauty. He highlighted the Prime Minister’s praise for the state’s environmental initiative “Mero Rukh Mero Santati,” calling it a source of renewed inspiration to further deepen environmental stewardship.

Conveying gratitude on behalf of the people, the Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for his continued guidance, support, and commitment to Sikkim’s progress. He added that the Prime Minister’s leadership continues to inspire the state’s journey toward inclusive growth and sustainable development.
