The session created a safe and inclusive platform for participants to explore themes such as identity, intersectionality, stigma, bullying, and support systems. Facilitated discussions encouraged open dialogue and peer support, followed by guided art-based activities that enabled participants to express emotions and personal experiences in a non-judgmental environment.

The initiative aimed to foster self-awareness, emotional resilience, and practical coping strategies, while strengthening a sense of belonging and validation among participants. It also provided student facilitators an opportunity to deepen their understanding of applied psychology, empathy, and community engagement.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative Prof. (Dr.) Rupakjyoti Borah, Dean, Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts, said,

“Through initiatives like ‘Beyond Labels,’ we aim to create safe, inclusive spaces where individuals can openly express themselves and engage in meaningful conversations around identity and mental health. Such platforms are essential in addressing stigma and building a more empathetic and aware society.”

Building on its legacy of impactful outreach, NMIMS continues to address diverse mental health needs through inclusive and innovative interventions that promote awareness and reduce stigma across communities.
