The success of the ECMS scheme marks India’s decisive shift from intent to execution in electronics manufacturing. The approvals span 16 product segments, from lithium-ion cells and flexible PCBs to connectors and display modules, and are spread across 8 states, along with Karnataka and Maharashtra leading in project count. These investments are expected to generate over 14,000 jobs and drive production worth Rs 84,515cr highlighting the strong momentum being created under the scheme.

Broadly, the ECMS programme has seen 75 applications across 23 product categories from 12 states, reflecting strong industry participation across the country. Against a target investment of Rs 59,350 cr, approvals have already reached Rs 61,671 cr, demonstrating the industry’s strong confidence in the policy framework. The scheme is expected to enable production worth over Rs 4,51,858 cr, moving close to the overall target of Rs 4,56,500 cr, while employment generation has already reached over 65,000 jobs against a projected 91,600 jobs.

IESA congratulates MeitY for its proactive approach and fast-tracked approvals, which have significantly accelerated ecosystem development. As 2026 begins to shape, India has earned global trust as a credible, investible ESDM destination. ECMS is a game-changer because a strong ecosystem needs components, materials, and electronics value addition, not just semiconductors.

The continued guidance of the Hon’ble Minister, particularly on strengthening design competency and Six Sigma quality, is both timely and critical to building long-term global competitiveness. IESA has been consistently nurturing and advocating a design-led manufacturing approach across the electronics and semiconductor sectors, and our members remain deeply committed to advancing design, innovation, and product creation in India. The next phase must focus on scaling up, building strong design teams, local sourcing, and world-class quality. OEMs and system companies must actively adopt Designed and Made-in-India components as demand creation is as critical as supply creation while distributors enable global integration of Indian products into the bill of materials.
