RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., March 10 –Virtium today announced the launch of the StorFly-HS OCP S.A.F.E. M.2 NVMe Boot SSD, an industrial-grade boot SSD formally certified to comply with the Open Compute Project Secure Appraisal Framework and Enablement (OCP S.A.F.E.) requirements. StorFly-HS is the first boot SSD formally certified as OCP S.A.F.E, establishing a new benchmark for secure, standards-based boot storage in OCP ecosystems. This OCP S.A.F.E. certified solution delivers state-of-the-art security with enterprise-class protection and management, significantly exceeding the capabilities of standard boot-drive SSDs.
Designed specifically for AI networking and datacenter compute platforms, StorFly-HS delivers out-of-band (OOB) manageability through NVMe-MI 1.2 compliance, ultra-high reliability, and extended endurance in a compact, low-power, M.2 form factor. The product is engineered for long-term deployments with 5+ year product availability, a locked bill-of-materials (BOM), and 12-month product change notification (PCN) support.
“AI networking infrastructure demands standardized, secure, and highly reliable boot storage,” said Dave Beasley, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Virtium. “StorFly-HS is purpose-built for datacenter ecosystems. With formal OCP S.A.F.E. certification, industrial temperature support, and long-term lifecycle assurance, we are enabling OEMs and hyperscalers to deploy compliant boot solutions with reduced integration risk and faster time-to-market.”
“OCP’s S.A.F.E. requirements are designed to improve interoperability, manageability, and security across open infrastructure platforms,” said Steve Helvie, Chief Emerging Ecosystem Officer, at the Open Compute Project. “Virtium’s StorFly-HS achieving formal certification demonstrates strong alignment with the OCP Community and helps advance secure, standards-based boot storage for next-generation AI and networking systems.”
By aligning directly with OCP S.A.F.E., StorFly-HS ensures interoperability, remote manageability, and security consistency across hyperscale and AI networking infrastructures. Unlike conventional commercial SSDs repurposed for boot applications, StorFly-HS is purpose-designed for datacenter environments and industrial deployments. In addition, 5+ year availability minimizes or eliminates re-qualification cycles often necessary for commercial SSDs.
Key advantages include:
- OCP S.A.F.E. Certified
- PCIe Gen4 / NVMe 2.0
- NVMe-MI 1.2 MCTP 1.1
- JEDEC M.2 2242 form factor; future support for 2230 and 2280
