Mumbai, Dec 08: WalkAbout, India’s community platform for active agers, announced the launch of the WalkAbout Senior Games on 20 December 2025 at Juhu, Mumbai. It is the first sports day in India designed for adults 55+ who want to move, compete, and connect with a community that shares their energy. More than 200 participants will come together for a morning that brings back the spirit of School Sports Day, eight houses, team-based events, relay runs, throw challenges, box cricket, skill stations, and a guided warm-up — all adapted to different fitness levels so everyone can participate fully and confidently.

WalkAbout Announces Senior Games to Champion Active Ageing in India

Why Senior Games, and Why Now

Across the country, older adults are healthier, more independent, and eager for experiences that give structure, movement, and purpose. The Senior Games meet that need. They send a clear message that physical activity is not bound to age — it is a lifelong habit and a powerful tool for wellbeing. National programs like Khelo India have sparked interest in sports among younger generations. WalkAbout extends that energy across the lifespan, making participation a culture, not an age bracket.

Deval Delivala, Founder & CEO of WalkAbout, said:

“India is ready for a new way of looking at ageing. The Senior Games reflect what we see every day, older adults who want to move, learn, compete, and stay connected. When we create spaces where people can show up as active participants, not passive bystanders, everything changes.

This is not just a sports day. It’s a signal of what ageing in India can look like when community, movement, and purpose come together. Our work at WalkAbout is about giving people the confidence and the tools to stay curious, active, and independent for as long as they can. If we build these habits today, we give every Indian the chance to age in place with dignity tomorrow.”

Recognising Champions of Active Ageing

WalkAbout also announced the WalkAbout Senior Athlete Program, the first initiative in India to recognise everyday active ageing champions. These are runners, cyclists, yogis, trekkers, and sports enthusiasts who show that movement after 55 is not an exception, it is strength, discipline, and possibility. Selected athletes will receive monetary support, exclusive WalkAbout merchandise, opportunities to lead WalkAbout events, and a platform to share their stories to inspire more people across the country.

Building India’s Third Space for Active Agers

WalkAbout continues to build India’s most comprehensive third space for active agers, offering curated events, wellness programs, cultural experiences, learning opportunities, and community-led initiatives across major cities. With the Senior Games and the Senior Athlete Program, WalkAbout reinforces its commitment to creating meaningful, active, and social experiences that help India reimagine ageing, not as decline, but as possibility.
