The 54-year-old Anand overcame a shaky start to win the last two games decisively. Anand’s victories at the Leon Masters span from 1996 to 2024, highlighting his enduring prowess in the chess world.
In the second game, Anand avoided passive defence, employing a poisoned-pawn variation of the French Defense. The game became highly tactical after 16.f5, with Anand threatening to follow up with f6, demonstrating his aggressive and strategic gameplay.
