On Sunday, Indian Railway officials conducted a comprehensive inspection and successful electric train trial on the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, located over the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir. This impressive engineering feat connects Sangaldan in Ramban district with Reasi.

Northern Railway is preparing to launch train services on this remarkable bridge, with the first successful trial train running from Sangaldan to Reasi on Sunday. This trial marks the completion of the rail link between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of India, as announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Chenab Rail Bridge is not only a marvel of engineering but also a symbol of progress, promising to boost economic growth and development in Jammu and Kashmir. The successful trial paves the way for regular train services, bringing the dream of seamless rail travel to the picturesque yet remote regions of the Kashmir Valley closer to reality.

Standing at 359 meters (approximately 1,180 feet) above the Chenab River, the Chenab Rail Bridge is 35 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower. The 1,315-meter-long bridge is a crucial part of a broader project aimed at integrating the Kashmir valley into the Indian Railway network, enhancing accessibility and connectivity for the region.
