Singapore, Apr 13: Singapore – Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced the launch of new flight services to Belitung and Pontianak in Indonesia. These flights will be operated using the modern Embraer E190-E2 and are scheduled to commence in May and June 2026, respectively.

Scoot Announces New Flights to Belitung and Pontianak in Indonesia

 The new routes will provide travelers with greater convenience and more connectivity options, further strengthening Scoot’s presence in Indonesia.

Belitung, located off the eastern coast of Sumatra, is a picturesque tropical island known for its unique granite rock formations, pristine beaches, and rich biodiversity. It is also home to the rare Belitung tarsier. Scoot will begin operating flights to Belitung twice weekly starting May 3, 2026.

Meanwhile, Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan, sits directly on the equator. A key attraction is the Equator Monument, where visitors can stand between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The city, located along the Kapuas River, is also known for its vibrant culture and diverse culinary offerings. Scoot will operate flights to Pontianak three times weekly starting June 29, 2026.

With the addition of these destinations, Scoot’s network will expand to 85 destinations across 18 countries and regions.

Network Expansion and Increased Flight Frequencies

To meet rising travel demand, especially during the upcoming school holiday season, Scoot has also announced increased flight frequencies to several destinations:

  • Phuket: From 17 to 21 weekly flights (from April 2026)
  • Sibu: From 3 to 4 weekly flights
  • Bali and Jakarta: From 28 to 35 weekly flights (from June 2026)
  • Labuan Bajo: From 2 to 3 weekly flights
  • Lombok: From 4 to 10 weekly flights
  • Manado: From 6 weekly flights to daily services

In North Asia and Europe:

  • Okinawa: From 3 to 4 weekly flights
  • Changsha: From 4 to 5 weekly flights
  • Vienna: From 3 to 4 weekly flights (from June 2026)

Flights are now available for booking via Scoot’s official website and mobile app, and progressively through other channels. Flight schedules remain subject to regulatory approvals and changes.
