Motherhood is often seen as the ultimate expression of love and strength, and every woman is blessed with a natural maternal instinct. For Radhika Muthukumar, the lead actress in ‘Main Dil Tum Dhadkan’ on Shemaroo Umang, playing the role of Vrinda, a mother, has been a deeply fulfilling experience. This is Radhika’s first time portraying a mother on screen, and she shares how the role resonated with her on a personal level.
Radhika reflects on her connection with Vrinda’s character: “Playing Vrinda has been a special journey for me. It’s my first time stepping into the shoes of a mother on screen, and when I first heard the script, I immediately felt ready. I believe that women naturally carry a maternal instinct; the feeling of motherhood is not restricted to biological ties. The moment I started working with my on-screen son, Kanha, I didn’t see him as just a character. I never once thought of him as anything other than my own child. The bond we share on screen mirrors how we interact off screen. I play with him, take care of him and when I am not on set, he looks for me. That connection feels so natural to me.”
She adds “Whenever we shoot scenes where Kanha is taken away from Vrinda, it’s incredibly emotional for me. The thought of being separated from a child you’ve raised and loved with all your heart is unbearable, and I channel that raw emotion into Vrinda. It feels real, and I think that’s why the scenes come across so powerfully. I believe no mother can even imagine the pain of such separation, and that’s what makes Vrinda’s journey so intense for me. The way viewers have embraced our story and characters feels like a blessing. I’m overwhelmed by the warmth and love we’ve received, and I hope their support continues as the show progresses.”.
Now that Keshav has discovered Kanha is his son and Vrinda isn’t his real mother, the emotions are now at their peak. How will little Kanha cope with such life-changing news?
