Thimphu, Bhutan: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed a large gathering today at the Changlimethang Celebration Ground, extending warm greetings to His Majesty The King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and His Majesty The Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. He also acknowledged members of the Royal Family, Bhutanese Prime Minister H.E. Tshering Tobgay, and other distinguished dignitaries.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the deep cultural and emotional ties that have bound India and Bhutan for centuries, calling the relationship “a commitment of both nations and of my heart.” He noted that the day holds immense significance for Bhutan, its Royal Family, and for all who believe in global peace.
However, Shri Modi stated that he arrived in Bhutan with a heavy heart following the horrific incident in Delhi the previous evening. He expressed deep sorrow, shared the nation’s grief, and assured that the families affected are not alone. The Prime Minister said he had been in constant touch with investigative agencies throughout the night and vowed that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice. “Indian agencies will uncover the full conspiracy. The conspirators will not be spared,” he declared.
Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the spiritual significance of the day, noting that under the blessings of Guru Padmasambhava, Bhutan is hosting the Global Peace Prayer Festival along with the sacred viewing of Lord Buddha’s Piprahwa relics. He added that the celebration of the 70th birth anniversary of His Majesty The Fourth King, in the presence of eminent personalities, symbolizes the enduring strength of India-Bhutan relations.
The event underscored both nations’ shared commitment to peace, cultural heritage, and mutual respect.
