Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to depart for Italy today to attend the 50th G7 leaders’ summit, marking his first international trip since assuming office for a third term. The summit, held at the luxury resort of Borgo Egnazia in Italy’s Apulia region from June 13 to 15, will be Modi’s fifth consecutive G7 summit appearance.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation, PM Modi will participate in an outreach session on June 14, focusing on issues such as artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. This year, the G7 summit under the Italian presidency has prioritized these critical topics.

Modi, who was sworn in as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term just four days ago, will join other global leaders including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the event. This will be India’s 11th participation in the G7 summits.

The annual gathering of the group of seven advanced economies aims to address pressing global issues and foster international cooperation.
