New Delhi: The PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) Scheme has achieved significant progress in expanding renewable energy capacity in India’s farm sector, with a total of 10,203 MW installed and ₹7,106 crore released as of November 30, 2025, Parliament was informed on Tuesday.

This information was shared in a written reply in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik.

The PM-KUSUM scheme is a demand-driven initiative, with capacity allocations based on demand received from states and their on-ground implementation performance. The scheme enables participation not only by individual farmers but also by groups of farmers, including Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Water User Associations (WUAs), and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).

According to data reported by State Implementing Agencies (SIAs), the scheme is now being implemented across all States and Union Territories. State-wise installation progress as of November 30, 2025, has been consolidated by the Ministry, along with beneficiary data, including FPOs that have availed benefits under the scheme.

As per official figures, the release of funds under PM-KUSUM is carried out based on demand from states, progress reported by SIAs, and provisions laid out in the scheme guidelines. Acting on the requirements submitted by states, the Centre has released ₹7,106 crore under the scheme so far.

To streamline implementation, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy issued simplified and comprehensive revised guidelines on January 17, 2024. Under these updated norms, priority is accorded to small and marginal farmers, as well as farmers adopting micro-irrigation techniques, ensuring equitable access to clean energy solutions.

In order to further expand the scheme’s outreach, the Ministry regularly conducts capacity-building workshops, outreach programmes, review meetings, and handholding sessions with implementing states to address operational challenges and accelerate adoption.

The PM-KUSUM scheme plays a critical role in India’s clean energy transition by promoting solar-powered irrigation, decentralized solar power generation, and additional income opportunities for farmers, while also contributing to the country’s broader renewable energy and climate goals.
