27th June 2024- On the occasion of Anasara Panchami today, Mahaprabhu Jagannath and his siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, received the traditional ‘Phuluri Tela Seva,‘ a special herbal oil treatment. This ancient ritual, performed during the ‘Anasara’ period at the Srimandir in Puri, has been a closely guarded secret for over 1000 years.
The ‘Phuluri oil,’ prepared with a blend of fragrant flowers, sandalwood powder, Bena Chera, fragrant rice, and camphor, is believed to cure the deities’ fever caused by the excess bathing during ‘Snana Yatra.’ This treatment is an essential part of the preparations for the deities for the ‘Rath Yatra.’
The Holy Trinity, currently on a 15-day ‘Anasara’ stay, will undergo this oil treatment to aid their recovery. They are expected to fully recuperate by ‘Naba Jaubana Darshan,’ a day before the ‘Rath Yatra,’ ensuring they are ready for the grand event
