Odisha CM Announces Two-Day Government Holiday for Rath Yatra

02/07/2024- Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a special review and coordination meeting at Puri Municipality Hall in preparation for the upcoming Rath Yatra. He announced a two-day holiday on July 7th and 8th in light of the festival, which will span two days this year. The rituals for the Rath Yatra will be conducted by traditions observed in 1971.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with ministers from various departments and district MLAs, CM Majhi emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to ensure a smooth and successful Rath Yatra. The Chief Administrator of Srimandir, the Collector, SP, and administrative officers of Srimandir were also present at the meeting.

This year, the Nabajaubana Darshan, Netra Utsav, and Rath Yatra will coincide on July 7th, with the chariots being pulled a short distance before resuming the next day, similar to the event observed in 1971.
