25th June 2024- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted increased rainfall activity in Odisha starting from June 26, attributing it to a cyclonic circulation forming over the Bay of Bengal. According to the regional weather office, several districts in the state are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from June 26 to June 28.

In response to this forecast, the regional weather department has issued a yellow warning for nine districts, namely Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Rayagada, Jharsuguda, and Sundergarh. This warning indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall and advises residents and authorities to be cautious.

The Odisha government has placed all district collectors on alert following the IMD’s prediction, urging preparedness and precautionary measures in anticipation of the upcoming weather conditions. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure necessary actions are taken to mitigate any potential impacts of the expected heavy rainfall.
