June 24, 2024 – The Odisha BJP team has announced plans to observe Black Day on June 25th to commemorate the anniversary of the 1975 Emergency. This initiative aims to spread awareness and remind people about the significance of Emergency Day, a period often regarded as a dark chapter in India’s democratic history.
The decision to observe Black Day reflects the party’s commitment to educating the public about the events that unfolded during the Emergency when civil liberties were curtailed, opposition leaders were arrested, and democratic processes were severely undermined.
Through various activities and programs, the Odisha BJP hopes to highlight the importance of protecting democratic values and preventing any recurrence of such authoritarian measures.
