NDA Unanimously Elects Modi as Alliance Leader for Third Term

6th June 2024- In a significant political development, the Union cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has recommended the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha. This decision came following a meeting at Modi’s residence, held a day after the general election results were announced. Prime Minister Modi formally conveyed the recommendation to President Droupadi Murmu and tendered his resignation along with the Union Council of Ministers.

In a parallel development, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously re-elected Narendra Modi as the bloc’s leader during a meeting in New Delhi. The NDA leaders passed a resolution underscoring their commitment to serving the marginalized sections of society.

The NDA is set to meet President Murmu to stake claim to form the government under Modi’s leadership. The Rashtrapati Bhavan has confirmed that President Murmu accepted the resignations and requested Modi and his ministers to continue in their roles until the new government is formed. The term of the current 17th Lok Sabha is set to end on June 16.
