Monsoon Rains Bring Relief to Odisha, Yellow Warning Issued

June 24, 2024 – Monsoon rains have begun in Odisha, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat of summer. The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Center has forecasted light to moderate rainfall across different parts of the state over the next four days.

A yellow warning has been issued by the weather centre, indicating potential lightning, thunder, and heavy rain in coastal, northern, and western Odisha within the next 24 hours. Wind speeds of 30 to 40 km per hour are also expected during this period. The forecast suggests that rain will persist in most areas tomorrow as well.

Seven districts – Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Koraput – have been placed under a yellow warning due to anticipated heavy rainfall. This warning advises residents and authorities to remain cautious and prepared for adverse weather conditions.

After days of intense heatwave conditions, the onset of monsoon showers has brought a sense of relief and rejuvenation to the people of Odisha. The rainfall is expected to continue replenishing the region and providing much-needed respite from the prolonged dry spell.
