25th June 2024- The Ministry of Railways has approved the construction of a flyover at Khurda Road Station to alleviate growing train traffic and congestion issues. The East Coast Railway’s proposal for a 7.41 km flyover aims to streamline operations along the Howrah-Chennai Main Line and Khurda Road-Puri Branch Line.
The project, estimated at Rs 191.87 crores, will provide dedicated infrastructure for trains from Puri, facilitating seamless connectivity towards Bhubaneswar without intersecting other lines at Khurda Road Station. This development is set to significantly improve the movement of passenger trains originating from Puri towards Bhubaneswar.
Khurda Road Railway Station, a pivotal junction for train movements, will benefit from enhanced efficiency with the simultaneous operation of trains on the Bhubaneswar-Brahmapur and Khurda Road-Puri rail sections.
