Low-Pressure Area Forms Over Bay of Bengal, Heavy Rainfall

15/07/2024, Bhubaneswar- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Monday that a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off the south Odisha coast, extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards with height.

A new low-pressure area is anticipated to form over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19. While no weather warning is in effect for July 16, heavy rain is expected to resume on July 17 in select areas. These areas include Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, and Koraput. Additionally, Bhubaneswar experienced rainfall today.
