June 18, 2024 – Indian Railways, renowned for managing train services in the world’s most populous country, has a history marked by tragic accidents. The latest incident occurred on June 17, when a goods train collided with the Kanchanjunga Express near Rangapani station in West Bengal.

2023: Odisha’s Balasore Accident
On June 7, the Coromandel Express collided with a stationary iron ore-laden goods train at Bahanaga Bazar station. The crash, which also involved the Yeshwantpur-Howrah Express, claimed 293 lives and injured 1,100 people, marking India’s worst railway disaster in three decades.

2018: Amritsar Train Accident
A commuter train ran through a crowd gathered on the tracks during a festival in Amritsar, killing at least 59 people and injuring 57.

2018: Train Rammed into School Bus
In Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar, a train rammed into a school van at a railway crossing, resulting in the deaths of 13 children.

2017: Andhra Pradesh Train Accident
In 2017 a passenger train derailment in Andhra Pradesh led to the deaths of 41 people.

2016: Uttar Pradesh Train Accident
In 2016 another tragic accident happened the Indore-Patna Express derailed in Kanpur, killing 146 people and injuring more than 200.
