01/07/2024- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has updated its weather forecast, reporting a cyclonic circulation previously over East Jharkhand and the vicinity now situated over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and neighbouring areas. The trough extending from West Assam to North Odisha has weakened, according to IMD’s report on Monday.

IMD has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm activities across various parts of Odisha over the next 48 hours. A yellow warning has been issued in anticipation of these weather conditions. IMD forecasts surface winds with speeds reaching 40 to 50 mph along and off the North Odisha coast within the next 24 hours, attributing this to a steep pressure gradient.

The probability of rainfall remains high in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Residents are advised to stay updated with further advisories from IMD and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during inclement weather conditions.
