New Delhi: The Honorary Consular Corps Diplomatique–India (HCCD-India), led by its President Mr. K. L. Ganju, O.C.V.C. (CDR.), along with members of the Board of Directors, hosted a distinguished soirée to commemorate Consular Day 2026 in New Delhi.
Organised in recognition of the important role of consular services, the evening brought together members of the diplomatic community to honour NGOs and Honorary Consuls who have made significant contributions to advancing consular activities and strengthening bilateral relations.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the Vivek Burman (Dabur) Peace Prize to the Vanvasi Raksha Parivar Foundation, New Delhi, in recognition of its impactful work.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. K. L. Ganju emphasised the pivotal role played by Honorary Consuls in India in facilitating consular services while strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between sending and receiving countries.
The evening was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs.

The event was further honoured by the presence of Guest of Honour H.E. Mr. Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam, Ambassador of the State of Eritrea and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, along with H.E. Maj. Gen. Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan and Deputy Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
The celebration witnessed participation from Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Honorary Consuls from across India. Senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, distinguished members of the diplomatic fraternity, and prominent figures from Delhi’s social circles were also in attendance.
The soirée concluded on a note of appreciation and collaboration, reinforcing the vital role of honorary consuls in fostering international cooperation and people-to-people connections.
