Heavy Rainfall Expected in Odisha from July 6, IMD Reports

o5/07/2024- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that heavy rainfall is likely to resume in Odisha from July 6 and continue for three days. Thunderstorms with lightning are expected on July 5 in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. Bhubaneswar may experience a cloudy sky with occasional rain or thundershowers. 

On July 6, heavy rainfall is forecasted for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Malkangiri. The rain intensity is expected to increase over the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rain anticipated in Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, and Ganjam on July 7. Other districts, including Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Puri, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar, may also see heavy rain.

On July 8, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal are expected to receive heavy rainfall. A similar warning is issued for Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar on July 9.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur across many areas of the state until July 11, the IMD added.
