The Indian democracy, which is the largest one by electoral practice, is booming and thriving. It has become more inclusive. It is no longer in danger. Contrary claims were made by several opposition leaders throughout the election campaign that recently took place. The results with a clear picture are out. The constitution of the country is intact. However, the electoral constitution of the lower house has drastically changed. Everyone has a reason to grin and smile as there is something for everyone. Some may clink glasses and say cheers.
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), with its allies under the National Democratic Alliance, is all set to form the government for the third consecutive term, which is historic, and is happy about having won 240 seats on its own, which is far more than the opposition’s combined total of 233.
Congress is pleased that it has improved its position from 52 in 2019 to 99 in 2024.
JDU, with its 12 wins, though it lost four seats against 16 in the 2019 election, is happy about returning to the fold of the NDA, which is to continue to rule. However, JDU as one of the kingmakers will have a greater say now in the policy decision.
The former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh was jailed for some time, is out on bail, and is all set to be the next CM of the state with a thumping majority in the assembly election and 16 precious seats in the 18th Lok Sabha as an important ally in the formation of the central government led by Narendra Modi, who too is happy about retaining the prime ministerial position, though with reduced numbers.
RJD, which could not open its account in the 2019 election, has got four seats this time. So, it is on cloud nine. It is fluttering too much, pinning a hope to rope in Nitish Jee to be in the INDIA alliance.
TMC, which was projected to lose to the BJP, has been able to retain its position by winning 37 seats and unseating the BJP from 6 constituencies in West Bengal.
Shiv Sena, led by Udhav Thakrey, is happy about its position as it has gained a lion’s share of 21 seats in Maharashtra, though it has lost the party symbol to the breakaway group, which is Shiv Sena, led by CM Eknath Sindhe, who is also seen grinning with seven seats.
The Samajwadi Party, led by former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, is pleased to be considered as the third-largest party in Lok Sabha, with 37 seats, up from 5 in 2019. Hence, there is a big celebration at SP headquarters.
The happiest one is Chirag Paswan, President of the Lokjansakti Party, which won five seats, fielding only five candidates. Thus, he has tasted a 100 per cent result. Aam Adami (AAP) gaining three seats in the lower house of India for the first time is also happy, as its national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, has returned to Tihar Jail to save the democracy from dictatorship, as he said. The Election Commission of India is reported to be happy as no party has come forward to make an allegation against EVMs being rigged or hacked. A free and fair general election was held over six weeks in scorching heat.
The citizens across the country are happy about their political affiliations, as each party, has got something or other.
