Epoch Elder Care Launches Training Program for Dementia Caregivers to Enhance Caregiving Skills

India, 10th October 2024 – Epoch Elder Care, India’s trusted name in dementia care services, feels privileged to announce the introduction of the ‘Epoch Dementia Caregiver Training Program.’ The program provides carers with the skills necessary to become adequately skilled at providing personalized, top-quality care for people with dementia because the disorder is a chronic and progressive neurological condition, thus requiring a lot of care.

This training program is accessible to carers from all disciplines and even those with a non-clinical background. If you are a caregiver caring for a member of your family who suffers from dementia or has a professional caregiver at home taking care of your elder who has dementia, our program will be useful to get to know the basics of dementia care. The course is beneficial for both formal and informal caregivers. The program is available both in online sessions and offline modes and is also available for individuals as well as groups. Offline sessions are conducted in Gurugram and Pune by the clinical team at Epoch, who have been certified in dementia care by Stiftelsen Silviahemmet, Sweden.

Carers can select a 1-day introduction program that describes a general outline of dementia care or an intensive 2-Day course that offers a more comprehensive, practical-based learning approach. Both programs train the caregivers about fundamental knowledge regarding the type, progression, and symptoms of dementia. The course also covers communication for challenging behaviours. The two-day course is even more developed to incorporate cognitive stimulation activities, engagement tactics, sensory stimulation, and music therapy. Under mentor supervision, the offline program also consists of practical sessions to further improve the hands-on learning experience.

Considering the importance of the program, Neha Sinha, a dementia specialist and co-founder & CEO of Epoch Elder Care, said, “Caregiving is, in essence, the backbone to dementia care yet most caregivers are incapable of meeting the complex needs of the elders with dementia. Our program is, hence, designed to equip them with the right tools and skills to enable them to offer care with more confidence and compassion.”

To reduce the stress of caregivers, the program is holistic, to equip them with all sorts of knowledge right from the emotional as well as physical needs of a person suffering from dementia.
