Dengue Cases Rise as Monsoon Arrives in Odisha

01/07/2024- As the monsoon season advances, Odisha has reported a sudden rise in dengue cases, with 43 new infections recently identified. The state has confirmed a total of 288 cases across various districts this season, with 80 cases detected in the past five days alone.

Health department sources report that new dengue cases have emerged in 24 out of the state’s 30 districts, with Khurda recording the highest number at 80 cases, followed by Sundargarh with 25, and both Cuttack and Rayagada reporting 21 cases each.

Director of Health Services, Dr Bijay Mohapatra, has urged civic officials to implement preventive measures urgently to control the spread of the disease.
