Daniel Radcliffe Wins First Tony Award for Merrily We Roll Along

Daniel Radcliffe,
known for his role in the Harry Potter films, clinched his 1st Tony Award at Sunday’s ceremony in New York. Radcliffe was honoured as the best actor in a musical for his performance in the revival of Stephan Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along.”

The play itself garnered three additional awards at the prestigious Broadway event, celebrating excellence in theatre. In his heartfelt acceptance speech, the 34-year-old extended Father’s Day wishes to his father and expressed gratitude to his girlfriend, Erin Darke.

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie also secured her first Tony Award as a producer for “The Outsiders,” which was named best musical and received a total of 12 nominations, ultimately winning four awards. Jolie was accompanied on stage by her daughter Vivienne, 15, adding a touching moment to the evening.

Additionally, Hollywood star Jeremy Strong celebrated his first Tony win for lead actor in a play, recognized for his role in “An Enemy of the People.”

The Tony Awards ceremony highlighted outstanding achievements in Broadway theatre, marking significant milestones for Radcliffe, Jolie, and Strong in their respective careers.
