K. A. Paul

New Delhi | Mar 5: Amid rising tensions linked to the ongoing US–Israel–Iran conflict, global evangelist and founder of the Global Peace Initiative, Dr K. A. Paul, addressed a press conference at Andhra Bhawan on Thursday, urging Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to consider convening an all-party meeting to discuss the safety of Indians living and working in the Middle East.

Speaking to the media, Dr Paul noted that nearly one crore Indians currently reside across Gulf countries and other parts of the region. With military activity and geopolitical tensions increasing, he said it would be prudent for the government and political leaders to collectively assess possible risks and preparedness measures.

He emphasised that safeguarding Indian citizens abroad should remain a national priority, particularly during periods of international instability. According to Dr Paul, a coordinated political and diplomatic approach could help India strengthen contingency planning and ensure timely assistance for its nationals if required.

Dr Paul also observed that the evolving situation has begun affecting global travel and economic activity, citing reports of flight disruptions and rising fuel costs impacting international transit hubs such as Dubai and Doha.

Highlighting his long-standing engagement in peace advocacy, Dr Paul said he has been in dialogue with international stakeholders to encourage diplomatic engagement. He noted that continued dialogue among global leaders remains essential to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation.

Over the past 37 years, Dr Paul said he has worked with global leaders on peace initiatives, interacting with several U.S. Presidents and Israeli Prime Ministers, and visiting Iran as a state guest on multiple occasions. His outreach, he added, has involved advising more than 155 Presidents and Prime Ministers on conflict prevention and diplomatic dialogue.

He further suggested that countries such as India or Turkey could serve as neutral venues for peace discussions if diplomatic negotiations move forward.

Concluding his remarks, Dr Paul said that with a large Indian diaspora in the region, continued vigilance and cooperation among political leaders would help ensure their safety while supporting global peace efforts.

“Nearly one crore Indians live and work in the Middle East. Their well-being is important, and collective efforts will help ensure that India continues to protect its citizens while encouraging peace,” he said.
