Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) invites citizens to contribute ideas for the 2026–27 budget. By doing so, the city aims to improve planning, civic services, and public participation. Moreover, citizen suggestions will help prioritise projects and allocate resources effectively. This initiative ensures decision-making becomes more transparent, inclusive, and responsive to community needs.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation invited citizens to share ideas for the 2026–27 civic budget. In total, residents submitted 2,607 suggestions through multiple platforms, including 798 via email. These suggestions provide insight into priorities for the upcoming budget and reflect citizens’ growing interest in improving city services.
Among the inputs, 1,795 suggestions (69%) focused on essential services, while 788 (30%) addressed non-mandatory areas. Moreover, 16 suggestions (0.6%) related to revenue generation, and 8 (0.3%) aimed at enhancing service delivery. This distribution shows citizens care about both daily needs and broader city improvements.
Roads and walkways received the most attention, with 487 suggestions (18%), followed by drainage with 327 (12.5%). Additionally, water supply got 297 inputs (11.4%), and street lighting or electrical works had 280 (10.7%). Citizens also highlighted waste management, traffic, housing, public health, and education.
Non-mandatory areas received focus on beautification, health, and amenities. Residents proposed parks, gardens, and tree plantations (5.1%) along with ICDS and welfare projects (5.1%). Public transport received 3.1% suggestions, while sports and recreation facilities got 2.9%. Other ideas included parking, Smart City projects, e-governance, libraries, and senior citizen parks.
AMC officials will review all feedback carefully. Then, they will identify practical reforms to include in the 2026–27 budget. These suggestions will guide decisions for a sustainable, equitable, and forward-looking Ahmedabad. Consequently, citizen participation will shape key urban policies and priorities.
