Chef Prakash Patil Brings His Mother’s Kitchen to Hillview Café This Gudi Padwa

Some dishes are not learned, but lovingly remembered. This Gudi Padwa, Le Méridien Navi Mumbai invites guests to take a seat at a table that transcends dining, one that gently returns them to the warmth of home. At Hillview Café, guests can experience a thoughtfully curated festive lunch inspired entirely by the cherished childhood memories of Executive Chef Prakash Patil, where every dish reflects tradition, nostalgia, and heartfelt celebration.

On Wednesday, 19th March, as gudhis rise across Maharashtra, Chef Prakash steps away from the brigade and into a deeply personal role, that of a son recreating the flavours that marked every new year in his home. The menu is unhurried and intentional: the delicate sweetness of Puran Poli finished with toop; the comforting familiarity of Batata Bhaji; the soul-soothing simplicity of Varan Bhaat; and the refreshing tang of coconut-laced Solkadhi. Each preparation remains true to its roots, honest, nostalgic, and exactly as it is meant to be.

A Table Set with Memory

“This menu draws entirely from traditional Maharashtrian home cooking, Puran Poli with toop, Batatachi Bhaji, Varan Bhaat, and Solkadhi, prepared using recipes that have been in my family for generations,” says Chef Prakash, Executive Chef, Le Méridien Navi Mumbai.

Hillview Café, with its warm interiors and sweeping views, provides the perfect setting for this intimate homage to Maharashtrian heritage. More than a lunch, this experience is an invitation to pause, savour with intention, and welcome the New Year in its most authentic form, through flavours steeped in memory and meaning.
