The latest episode of Shark Tank India witnessed an engaging set of pitches from emerging consumer and tech-led brands, with a particularly strong focus on women’s health, lifestyle management, and evolving D2C businesses.
The most discussed pitch of the episode was by HobFit, a women’s hormonal health and PCOD/PCOS management app founded by Arpit Tyagi, Gaurav Dua, and Lakshay Rohilla. Positioned as a holistic health companion for women, the app focuses on healthy eating habits, PCOD/PCOS management, period tracking, symptom logging, and overall hormonal health monitoring. The founders entered the tank seeking ₹75 lakhs for 1.5% equity, valuing the company at ₹50 crore.
During the pitch, the founders emphasized how PCOD/PCOS is increasingly affecting young women due to lifestyle changes and how HobFit aims to simplify long-term management through guided nutrition and consistent tracking. The Sharks appreciated the relevance of the problem being addressed.
Namita Thapar pointed out that PCOD/PCOS is a lifetime condition and remarked that “If the app is genuinely effective, users would ideally not drop out and would continue using it for life.”
However, newest Shark Shaily Mehrotra had a differing perspective. Drawing from her experience and the numerous podcasts she has done on the subject, she shared that PCOD/PCOS is largely a lifestyle-driven issue.
She said, “I don’t agree with Namita on this, I believe the first step is acceptance, followed by addressing root causes such as obesity and unhealthy eating habits.”
She expressed concerns about long-term retention and whether an app alone can solve a deeply behavioral and lifestyle-related condition, ultimately choosing not to proceed with the deal.
Ms Mehrotra backed out saying “while I appreciate what you are doing, and this is a burning issue at the moment but since I could not understand the analytics of this app I am out”
