The evening brought together women from diverse walks of life, including achievers from entrepreneurship, healthcare, arts, social work and community leadership. Alongside celebrated professionals, the organisers consciously chose to recognise women whose stories often remain outside the public gaze.
“International Women’s Day is not only a celebration of women’s achievements but also a reminder of the strength, resilience and compassion that women bring to every sphere of life. Platforms like ‘She Shines’ are important because they recognise not only well-known achievers but also the many unsung women whose determination quietly transforms families and communities. When we acknowledge their journeys, we inspire the next generation of young women to believe in their own potential and contribute meaningfully to society”, said Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group and Co-Chancellor of Techno India University.
“As an organisation we have always tried to stand beside women and support their aspirations. Being a woman myself, I understand the many dimensions of their struggles and their strength. I want women to feel comfortable approaching me with their concerns, because our institution believes in listening and supporting. In today’s event we have also chosen to highlight our women dialysis patients, who endure immense hardship in the course of their treatment. Their resilience reminds us that womanhood often carries burdens that remain unseen, yet these women continue to face life with remarkable courage”, Ms Mona Sarkar, CEO of Techno India Dama Hospital.
“Every year our effort has been to create a platform where women from every walk of life are acknowledged with equal dignity. We are not merely discussing gender; we are celebrating the idea of women standing for one another. That spirit resonates beautifully with this year’s theme, ‘Give to Gain.’ Many of the women we honour today are not widely known, yet their indomitable resolve constantly reminds us that adversity cannot silence the human will. Some battle illness, some struggle with financial hardship, and others confront deeply personal trials—yet they continue to stand tall, sharing the same platform with luminaries such as Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Chaiti Ghoshal, Dr. C.S. Adv Mamta Binani and many others”, Ms Moonmoon Chakraborty, CEO of Woman Times.
A special segment of the programme honoured “Unsung Sheroes” women whose everyday labour and persistence sustain families and communities. Among them were women cab drivers, women artisans from Kumartuli, and several others whose lives stood as quiet testimonies of endurance and self-respect.
The celebration also acknowledged the remarkable courage of women dialysis patients, whose relentless medical journeys are often accompanied by immense physical, emotional and social challenges.
As part of the programme, a Special Attention Health Session was also organised to address important aspects of women’s physical and mental well-being. The session featured expert insights from Dr Rajashree Roy Badyopadhayay, Psychiatrist, Dr Amrita Chaudhury, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and Dr Payel Kr Roy, Critical Care Nutritionist & Clinical Dietician, who shared guidance on mental health, women’s reproductive health, and the importance of balanced nutrition in sustaining overall wellness. The interactive session aimed to create greater awareness and encouraged women to prioritise their health while managing the many responsibilities of everyday life.
The programme featured felicitation ceremonies, personal interactions, and reflective moments celebrating women whose journeys inspired courage and hope. Through this initiative, the organisers hoped to nurture a culture that not only applauds achievement but also honours resilience.
