Guwahati, Feb 04th: In a compassionate and heart-warming initiative, around 40 elderly mothers from Matri Niwas Old Age Home in Mathgharia, and the Government Old Age Home in Sonapur were provided free medical treatment at Peerless Hospital Guwahati on February 4. The hospital bore the complete costs of medical check-ups, consultations, diagnosis and medicines as part of its continued commitment to community welfare.

The initiative was led by Garima Saikia Garg, who arranged for the elderly mothers to receive much-needed medical attention at the hospital. Peerless Hospital Guwahati extended full support to the initiative by arranging transportation for the mothers and providing free medical consultations, diagnostic services and medicines.

A dedicated team of specialist doctors and technicians conducted comprehensive health check-ups. Based on medical diagnosis, necessary treatment and medicines were provided to all beneficiaries completely free of cost.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr Gautam Kumar Das, CEO, Peerless Hospital Guwahati, said: “At Peerless Hospital Guwahati, we strongly believe that quality healthcare should be accessible to all sections of society. Caring for the elderly is both a responsibility and a privilege. We are honoured to be part of this initiative led by Garima Saikia Garg, and will continue to support such meaningful efforts in the future.”

Expressing her gratitude, Garima Saikia Garg said: “These mothers deserve love, care and medical attention just like any other family member. I am deeply thankful to Peerless Hospital Guwahati for their wholehearted support in making this initiative possible. Small efforts like these can bring big smiles and comfort to those who need it the most.”

Notably, February 4 holds special significance for Garima Saikia Garg as it marks her marriage anniversary with Late Zubeen Garg, whom the nation lost in September last year. She chose to commemorate the day by dedicating it to a humanitarian cause close to her heart.

The initiative has been widely appreciated as a meaningful step toward ensuring dignified healthcare for senior citizens, particularly those living in old age homes. Peerless Hospital Guwahati reiterated its commitment to continue serving the community through similar outreach programmes in the days ahead.
