Emphasizing the importance of awareness and advancements in treatment for Myeloma, Dr Esha Kaul, Director- Hemato-Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant, Medanta Hospital Noida said, “Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. It often presents with symptoms such as persistent bone pain, fatigue, recurrent infections, unexplained weight loss, and kidney-related issues. Unfortunately, these symptoms are often overlooked or misattributed, leading to delayed diagnosis. However, with increasing awareness and timely screening, early detection is possible. Importantly, recent advancements in treatment, particularly in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), targeted therapies, and immunotherapy, have significantly improved patient outcomes. Today, myeloma is not only manageable but, in many cases, treatable, allowing patients to lead longer and better-quality lives.”

Dr Esha further added,
“The Myeloma Awareness Run reflects our commitment to spreading awareness about blood cancers and encouraging early diagnosis. Through such community-driven initiatives, we aim to educate people about symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of timely medical attention. The overwhelming participation we witnessed today is a testament to the growing awareness and collective responsibility towards health. It is heartening to see people from all walks of life come together for a meaningful cause and support patients battling myeloma.”
The ‘Medanta Noida Awareness Run’ stands as a powerful reminder that awarenessearly detection, and access to advanced treatment can make a significant difference in the fight against myeloma.
